Calling all knitters and crocheters

posted Apr 22, 2010 6:38 AM by Beth Stanton

Our Mission Committee is looking for anyone who loves to knit or crochet to make some prayer shawls.  The committee will collect, store, and then present to anyone who may be in need of comfort during a time of stress, sadness or bereavement.  We are hoping this can be an 'ongoing' project.  Meaning, that when someone feels the calling to make a shawl, it can be made and donated.  Hopefully, the creator will say some prayers while making the shawl.  The shawls will be blessed before they are given to anyone.  There are some sample patterns on the table near the coat racks.

Please contack Karen Dotson or any Mission Committee member if you have any questions.

Baby Shower for Crisis Pregnancy Center in Lincoln Park

posted Apr 21, 2010 3:04 PM by FirstPresbyterianChurch Wyandotte   [ updated Apr 22, 2010 6:37 AM by Beth Stanton ]

Thanks to everyone who brought shower gifts last Sunday.  We will be collecting gifts this Sunday, April 25, 2010 also.

The Mission Committee is holding a "baby shower" on April 18 and 25, 2010 before and after church service.  This is to benefit the Crisis Pregnancy Center in Lincoln Park.  We asked the Center what they could use right now, as needs change and they stated the following:

Crib sheets
newborn diapers
baby socks
newborn outfits
baby towels/washcloths

All gifts must be new, and of course, anything donated would be much appreciated.  These items need not be wrapped, but just dropped off at the table in the narthex on either of the Sundays, or given to any member of Mission Committee.  We hope you will want ot take part in this mission outreach for these young mothers and their babys.

Thank you
